Wayne Mitts, 67, died at 2:30 a.m. today, July 14, 1999, at his home at 680 SE 10th, Trenton.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Trenton following military graveside rites.
There is no visitation scheduled, and the casket will not be open at any time.
Mr. Mitts was born on Jan. 27, 1932 in Grundy County, the son of Earl Mitts and Blanche Hatfield. He graduated from Trenton High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he returned to Grundy County, where he farmed and did electrical and refrigeration work.
Mr. Mitts was married to Frances Tuck Lober on June 19, 1978 at Liberty Chapel. They lived on a farm south of Trenton all of their married life.
Mr. Mitts was a member of the Liberty Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Fran of the home; a daughter, Carla, now Mrs. Larry Chambers of Trenton; four stepchildren, Cindy Harkins, Cathie Lober, Darrell Lober, and Kevin Lober, all of Trenton; two grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Mr. Mitts was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Blanche VanDeVenter; and a brother, Kenneth Mitts.
