James Gregory “Greg” Murphy, 30, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at his place of work in Kansas City. He was the brother of Jo O’Neal and the grandson of Clara L. Ratliff, both of Trenton.

James Gregory “Greg” Murphy, 30, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at his place of work in Kansas City. He was the brother of Jo O’Neal and the grandson of Clara L. Ratliff, both of Trenton.
Services were held at noon today, July 12, at the Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care in St. Joseph. Burial was held at the Springer Chapel Cemetery at Brimson.
Mr. Murphy was born on Cot. 10, 1968 at Fort Belvoir, Va, and lived in Stewartsville most of his life. He had lived in St. Joseph for the past five years.
Mr. Murphy was married to Stephanie K. Glenn on March 20, 1995.
Mr. Murphy was a 1987 graduate of Stewartsville C-2 High School and attended the N.S. Hillyard Vocational Technical School, where he studied auto body repair. He was a member of Local No. 541, MoKan Teamsters Union, and the IMCA Racing Association, and was a stock and modified race car driver.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie, and two daughters, Abigail L. Murphy and Mackensie Murphy, all of the home; his father and stepmothers, Jimmy M. and Mary O. Murphy of Stewartsville; his mother and stepfather, Shirley Ratliff Wofford and Bob Wofford of St. Joseph; two sisters, Jamie Sue Scearce of St. Joseph, and Jo O’Neal of Trenton; his maternal grandmother, Clara L. Ratliff of Trenton; and two nephews and one niece.
Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Russell Ratliff; his paternal grandparents, Rex and Doris Murphy; and two uncles, Raymond Ratliff, and Robert Murphy.
