The Grundy County Health Department would like to remind parents to schedule immunization appointments before the 1999-2000 school yeear begins.
Students entering kindergarten will need to receive booster shots and, due to changes in the state immunization requirements for school attendance, students entering seventh grade will need to begin the Hepititis B series prior to the first day of school. The following schedule for Hepititis B should be followed: initial visit, dose 1; one month after dose 1, dose 2; and five months after dose 2, dose 3.
While the Hepatitis B series is required for students entering kindergarten and seventh grade, it is also available, free of charge, for anyone from birth through age 18. Parents are encouraged to call the health department as soon as possible for an appointment, 359-4196.
