The Trenton High School boys’ golf team got its final tune-up for the district tournament on Monday as the Bulldogs traveled south for the Richmond Golf Tournament at the Shirkey Golf Course.
The Bulldogs carded a team score of 340, placing fourth in the 13-school field behind champion LeBlond (303), runner-up Maryville (324) and third-place St. Pius X (334).
Trenton will be at districts next Monday, traveling to the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson for that tournament.
“This was our last tune-up before districts,” Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix said. “The boys have been playing some very consistent golf. Hopefully, we can continue that trend and maybe even get a little better heading into Monday.”
Trenton was led at Richmond by Nate Swann, who carded an 80 at his second-straight tournament. The score was good for an eighth-place tie individually. Swann reached his total by carding a 41 on the front nine and a 39 on the back.
Behind Swann, Trenton’s Cree Mullenix shot an 83, using nine-hole splits of 41 and 42 to get to his total. Lathan Croy added an 88 after going 46 on the front and 42 on the back. Rounding out the team total was Corbyn Guile, who shot an 89 with nine-hole marks of 43 and 46. Luke Lewis was also in varsity action, shooting a 96. Lewis carded a 51 on the front nine and a 45 on the back.
