Firemen Fight Tractor-Trailer Blaze

R-T Photo/Wendell Lenhart The Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District responded to a tractor-trailer rig that was on fire on Highway 65, about three miles south of Trenton on Monday morning. According to firefighters, the truck’s brakes locked up, causing the rear wheels to catch fire. Both the truck and trailer had to be towed from the scene, with no injuries reported. Rural firefighters also provided mutual aid to the Jamesport Rural Fire Protection District on Monday night at a house fire on 82nd Avenue. The two-story Amish home sustained extensive damage, with the cause suspected to be a flue in an upstairs room. Much of the contents of the house had been removed when firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported.
