The “Five Points Festival” is scheduled for downtown Trenton on Saturday, Aug. 28 and will feature a day of activities and entertainment, including the “Art on a Line” t-shirt decorating contest and an afternoon performance by the band Deadwood.
The day will get under way at 10 a.m. with a cornhole tournament and an appearance by the Trenton High School mascots. Games with NCMC athletes, face painting and bounce houses will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entertainment will be at the Sesquicentennial Park beginning with THS Goldrush at 10:30 a.m., followed by the THS Colorguard at 11 a.m. and the THS Band at 11:30 a.m. Kim Suttenfield will perform at noon, followed by Colton Hammond at 12:30 p.m., Trisha Sharp at 1 p.m., NCMC Dance Wave at 1:30 p.m. and Deadwood at 3 p.m.
Deadwood is a blues/rock band from Kirksville. Founded in 1998, the band has been a mainstay on the northeast Missouri music scene for over two decades. The performance is free, but free will donations will be accepted to benefit Art’s Alive, an organization committed to bringing back the arts in Grundy County.
Entries are still being taken for “Art on a Line” in which participants will design a t-shirt that supports Missouri’s Bicentennial. Entry forms are available at Dynamic Tax and Accounting (Katie Kinney), the North Central Missouri College Development Office, located in the Frey Administrative Center (Tricia Key) and Trenton Middle School (Dana Creason). The cost is $10 per entry and shirts will be judged by Art’s Alive and displayed during the festival. Monetary prizes will be awarded. Shirts will be received until Aug. 27.
