There was moderate damage to the engine compartment of a truck that caught fire Tuesday evening on Highway 6, about two miles west of Trenton.
According to the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, the truck was owned by James Zigler and occupied by Chris Alberty at the time of the incident, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Firefighter Derek Hert reported that when firefighters arrived they found light smoke coming from under the hood and were able to open it and use a water extinguisher to douse the flames. A mechanical issue is to blame for the fire, which kept firefighters on the scene for about 20 minutes. The GCRFP was assisted by the Trenton Fire Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
