Two motor vehicle accidents were investigated recently by the Trenton Police Department.
According to Lt. Larry Smith’s accident report, an accident on May 30 resulted in moderate damage to a sport utility vehicle and extensive damage to a truck. The SUV, operated by Robert D. Burkeybile of Trenton, was backing from 110 County Club Place and failed to see a parked truck owned by Gene Wyant, also of Trenton. Burkeybile backed the SUV into the truck, with no injuries reported and no tickets issued in the mishap.
Officer Mike Wilson investigated an accident involving a motorized bicycle June 3 on the Highway 65 off-ramp. In that mishap, the motorized bicycle, driven by Lee F. Peters of Trenton, struck the rear of a car driven by Melinda S. Wilson of Spickard. Mrs. Wilson had stopped at a stop sign and then pulled forward to make a right turn. She said she slowly made the right turn and Peters had expected her to make it more quickly and when he realized she had not yet completed the turn, it was too late to stop before striking her vehicle from behind. No injuries were reported.
Peters was ticketed for following another vehicle too closely.
