Residents from Mercer and Iowa were hurt in a one-vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon in Mercer County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Emblem Road, four miles north of Princeton. A pickup, driven by 17-year-old Royce Walburn of Ackworth, IA was northbound when it failed to negotiate a curve and went off the left side of the road, striking a tree before coming to rest against the tree. Two passengers in the vehicle, a 16-year-old juvenile from Indianola, IA and 21-year-old Jessica McFee of Mercer, received serious injuries and were taken to Decatur County Hospital in Leon, IA for treatment. Walburn received minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene by the Mercer County Emergency Medical Service. The truck was demolished.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. Doug P. Little, assisted by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Mercer County EMS.
