For the second time this season, the Trenton High School volleyball team defeated South Harrison, doing so on the road by a 25-12, 26-24 score on Thursday night.
Evy McCullough had four kills and three blocks at the net and also scored one ace. Libby Fewins had three kills, one block and one ace and Allena Allen finished with four aces and one kill. Ava Simpson delved out five assists in the win.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Bulldogs, who were defeated at East Buchanan just two days earlier. That loss had snapped Trenton’s first two-match winning streak and put a wrinkle in a stretch where Trenton had won three of its last four. That loss quickly faded with the win over South Harrison.
“We played much better tonight after a good practice (Wednesday),” Trenton Head Coach Pam Bowden said. “We want to have a good showing for the Carrollton Tournament on Saturday.”
Trenton heads to Saturday’s Carrollton Tournament with a 6-11 overall record on the season.
Trenton’s junior varsity was also in action at South Harrison on Thursday, winning 21-25, 25-8, 15-11. Lilly Berti had three aces and two kills while Ally Yoder added three aces, one kill and one assist. Mackenzee Epperson had two kills, Juliet Schmadeke had two aces and Katie Markell had three digs. Faith Baker finished with one ace for the JV Bulldogs.
