Charles W. Axtell, an 80-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 2:46 a.m. on Saturday May 18, 2019 at Saint Luke’s on the Plaza of Kansas City.
His body was to be cremated under the direction of Slater-Neal Funeral Home of Trenton. No services are planned at this time.
Mr. Axtell was born on Feb. 25, 1939 at Spickard, the son of Kenneth and Lois Pettit Axtell. He graduated from Galt High School in 1957. Before retiring he was employed by Trenton Foods, then Nestle and Moorman Feed. He also drove a milk truck and was a school bus driver and a security guard.
He was married on Sept. 2, 1956 to Doris Sims at the Fairview Church, north of Galt.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of the home; two daughters, Valerie Axtell of Chillicothe and Vickie Stimpson and her husband, Daniel of Trenton; one son, Dennis Axtell and his wife, Christina of Trenton; five grandchildren, Ashly Axtell, Tabitha Welter, Shayna Hawkins, Derek Stimpson and Ryan Stimpson; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Hawkins, Ella Hawkins, Eli Hawkins and Lucy Welter; one sister, Peggy Sims of Trenton; and three brothers, Bob Axtell and his wife, Patty of Trenton, Jim Axtell and his wife, Iola of Emma and Bill Axtell and his wife, Mary of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Walter and Hulda Axtell and Charles and Agnes Pettit; and one brother, Jack Axtell.
Memorials are suggested to either the Galt Lions Club or the Galt FFA. They may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
