Wilma Mae Davenport Johnson, a 92-year-old resident of Yuba City, CA and former Grundy County resident, died on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018 at her home.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, CA.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Dec. 5, 1925 in Grundy County, the daughter of Viola and John Davenport. She was married to Arthur Melvin “Mel” Johnson for more than 70 years. She was co-owner of Mel’s Auto Parts of Yuba City for 18 years and she and her husband also owned and managed several properties in Yuba City over the years. She enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of the Cooper Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her four children, Judy (Dennis) Hafferty, Janet Johnson, Jim (Sallie) Johnson and Joyce Hammitt; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four siblings, John Davenport, Bill Davenport, Lois Mangrum and Mary Hoffman; and a grandson, Kevin Johnson.
Donations are suggested to the Sutter North Hospice and can be sent to the Ullrey Memorial Chapel of Yuba City, which was in charge of arrangements.
