Jan 29, 2018 | Headline News

Save-A-Lot Grocery Store in Trenton has been purchased by Chelsea Rouse of Green City and will become Rouse’s Food Market on Tuesday, Feb. 6, remaining in the same location at the Eastgate Shopping Center.
According to a news release from North Central Missouri Development Alliance Director Micah Landes, Ms. Rouse is the owner of Green City Foods LLC. and “is delighted to have the opportunity to serve the folks of Grundy County and surrounding areas.”
“Chelsea’s idea is to continue the discount grocery business, that is such a vital part of the Trenton Community,” Mrs. Landes said. “She looks forward to meeting everyone in the area and invites you to come out and see what is new at Rouse’s Food Market on opening day.”
Mrs. Landes said that more positive changes are forthcoming as the market gets up and running, adding Ms. Rouse “intends to meet the needs of the communities served. She asks for patrons to please have patience as the changes are made. Customer feedback is always welcome and considered valuable to Chelsea as she makes decisions based on customer need and satisfaction.”
Ten years of grocery experience and strong community support for the Save-A-Lot Grocery Store were keys in helping Ms. Rouse make the decision to expand into Grundy County. The store will no longer have the Save-A-Lot logo, and persons will see some changes at Rouse’s Food Market,
“But you can expect to see the same helpful staff as you shop,” Mrs. Landes said. “You will still be able to take home high quality meat and groceries, at discount prices. Chelsea will continue to cut fresh meat every day and you can expect to see USDA Choice Beef, Grade A poultry and USDA inspected pork, along with name brands, Best Choice Brand grocery items and household essentials.”
Rouse’s Food Market will continue to be managed by longtime Save-A-Lot co-managers, Sherry Black, Karen Meeker, Sarah Galvin and Logan Kimberling.
The NCMDA began working to find a replacement immediately following the notice of the Save-A-Lot store closure.
“We are fortunate to find another grocery store, that could move right in without a long vacancy,” Mrs. Landes said. “I am delighted with the announcement of Rouse’s Food Market coming to Grundy County. Rouse’s reputation is excellent and I have visited their store located in Green City. It is well organized and customer service is their top priority. We welcome Chelsea and hope she has many years of success.”
Mrs. Landes went on to say that it is a credit to Trenton’s excellent workforce, that the management will be retained by the new store.
