More than 30 years ago, Carroll Walker of Green City lost his right arm in an electrical contact accident, but he hasn’t let that slow him down.
Though there were times when Walker’s survival wasn’t certain, he wasn’t going to let his disability keep him from enjoying one of his passions – archery. Today he is a national champion archer who inspires others to persevere despite life’s challenges. He will share his experience as the guest speaker at the Grundy County Friends of the Library Dinner set for Friday, April 7.
The catered dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with reservations currently being taken. The cost is $15. Walker will begin his program around 7:15 p.m. in the Hoover Theater. The program itself is free and open to the public and those attending are asked to enter the library on the north side, taking the elevator to the third floor.
In addition, the library will hold its annual book sale in the Hoover Theater from April 10-15. Monday, April 10 will be reserved for Friends of the Library members while the sale is open to the remainder of the public April 11-15.
The cost to become a member of the Friends of the Library is $15 with a Senior Friend membership available for $10 and a Family Friend membership available for $25.
