Werthen Gass will represent the TMS FCCLA chapter at the national STAR Events competition in Nashville, TN.
Representing the TMS FCCLA chapter will be the teams of Interpersonal Communications, comprised of Jake McNabb and Bailee McAtee, and the Chapter Service Project Portfolio, comprised of Lexi Gott, Grace Kennebeck and Evy McCullough. THS FCCLA representatives will be the Food Innovations team of Sarah Jordan, Mykah Hurley and Sidney Lynch and Werthen Gass, who participated in Focus on Children.
The teams will take part in the National Leadership STAR Event competition on July 2-6 in Nashville, TN.
In addition, senior Mason Hooyman was named the recipient of a $2,000 FCCLA scholarship.
Also participating and earning silver ratings were the TMS teams of Environmental Ambassador, Jaycie Griffin and Maci Moore; Advocacy, Halle Lotz and Balea Jeannoutot; Illustrated Talk, Camdyn Leeper and Chloe Harris; Entrepreneurship, Morgan Dolan and Emily Lovell; and Life Event Planning, Brice Gibler, Aidan McAtee and Chase Otto.
TMS voting delegates were Gavin Roeder and Quincy Griffin.
“Channel into Leadership” was the theme of this year’s state conference, which featured speakers and workshops on topics such as preparing for college and careers, leadership skills, anti-bullying and technology’s impact in education, careers and family. In addition to the leadership training, honors and recognition, more than 720 students participated in 30 competitive events.
