Grundy R-5 Girls 60, Linn County Girls 49
The Grundy R-5 girls bounced back on Wednesday night, picking up a win over Linn County in the consolation semifinals of the Meadville Tournament.
Zoe Littleton continued to lead the Panthers (8-8) with 22 points and five steals. Jandie Peterson added 17 points, three steals and three assists. Mady Williams had six points and eight rebounds, Morgan Axtell had six points and six assists and Matana Munday had five points and nine rebounds.
The Grundy girls will play for the tournament consolation on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Tina-Avalon Boys 51, Grundy R-5 Boys 24
The Grundy R-5 boys struggled offensively in their consolation semifinal match-up at the Meadville Tournament and it cost them in a 51-24 loss to Tina-Avalon.
Bryson Gann led the Panthers (4-12) with 12 points. Wayne Baxter added seven points, four rebounds and two assists and Jon Stimpson pulled down eight rebounds.

Gilman City Girls 43, Union Star Girls 4
The Gilman City girls picked up a win on Wednesday night in the consolation semifinals of the Gilman City Tournament. Gilman used a dominating defensive effort to shut down Union Star, limiting its opponents to just four points.
“I was proud of the girls’ defense,” Gilman City Coach Adam Clark said. “They kept from fouling and controlled the boards.”
Hailey Burrows led Gilman (5-11) with 22 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and three assists. Megan Cottrell added 11 points and Emily Brown had six points and eight rebounds.
The Gilman City girls will play for the tournament consolation on Friday at 5 p.m.

Mercer Girls 69, Bucklin-Macon County Girls 28

The Mercer girls ran away with a quarterfinal win at the Meadville Tournament on Tuesday night, defeating Bucklin-Macon County 69-28. Mercer set the tone early, gaining a 29-5 advantage in the first quarter and never looking back en route to the win.
Bailey Owens had 17 points, six assists, six steals and three blocks to pace Mercer (14-1). Owens also collected her 2,000th career point in the win, joining Sierra Michaelis as the only other Lady Cardinal to crack that milestone. Nicole Kost and Lindsay Wyatt each scored 14 points with Kost adding seven assists and four steals and Wyatt finishing with five assists and four steals. Mercer also got double figures from Emily Sample, who had 11 points.
Mercer will be in semifinal action tonight at 4:30.

Mercer Boys 50, Tina-Avalon Boys 31
The Mercer boys outscored Tina-Avalon in each of the first three quarters, opening up a 19-point lead that would hold through the final frame on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the Meadville Tournament.
Mercer (13-2) was led by 14 points from Cash Hartley. Bryer Noe added 13 points and Grey Porter scored 12.
The Mercer boys see semifinal action in Meadville tonight, tipping off at 5:45.

Princeton Girls 62, Tri-County Girls 19
The Princeton girls opened up play in the Gilman City Tournament on Tuesday, routing Tri-County in the opening round, 62-19. Princeton raced out to an 18-3 lead in the first quarter and the Tigers were never in danger at any point in the game.
Payton Goodin had 20 points to lead the way for Princeton (9-8). Jaelyn Thomas added 14 points, Lindsey Batson scored 10 and Lacie Lewis finished with eight.
Princeton’s girls will be in semifinal action tonight at Gilman City, playing Pattonsburg at 4:30.

Princeton Boys 87, Union Star Boys 33
The Princeton boys also advanced to the semifinals of the Gilman City Tournament on Tuesday night, defeating Union Star handily. The Tigers held a 22-8 lead after one quarter and pulled away throughout the contest en route to a 54-point win.
Blaine Millburn and Calvin Berwanger each had 16 points to lead the way for Princeton (6-10). Andrew Smith added 14 points, Logan Dunkin scored 10 and Riley Lewis finished with eight.
The Tigers take on Northeast Nodaway tonight in the semifinals. Tip off in Gilman City is scheduled for 8:15.

Gilman City Boys 54, East Harrison Boys 51
The Gilman City boys moved into the semifinals of their own tournament on Tuesday night, fending off East Harrison in a close game. Gilman built a small 40-31 lead over three quarters and then held on in the fourth with a pair of Gage Sperry free throws helping to put the Hawks over the top.
“It wasn’t pretty at times, but we got the ‘W’,” Gilman City Coach Adam Clark said. “It was nice to see the boys finally win a close game.”
Mitchell Sievering led Gilman (4-11) with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Kaleb Bjornlie added 18 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Cornelius Peery added eight points, six rebounds and two assists and Skylar Reynolds finished with seven points, 11 rebounds and two steals.
Gilman City will take on top-seeded Pattonsburg tonight in the tournament semifinals at 5:45.
