A Relay for Life event to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society will be held in Grundy County on Saturday, Aug. 27.
The event will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. in the circle drive in front of the Trenton High School/Middle School complex. Activities will kick off with the traditional first lap walk by cancer survivors, followed by the introduction of participating teams, who will then continue their walk throughout the evening while raising funds in the fight against cancer.
As has been done in the past, a luminaria ceremony will be held after dark to remember those who have lost the battle with cancer as well as those who have fought the battle in the past and those who continue the fight. Luminaria bags will be available for sale at a cost of $5, with funds going to the cancer society.
Teams are being sought to participate in the 2016 event as well as volunteers to assist with the planning and activities that will be held leading up to and during the Relay for Life. Persons interested in taking part are asked to go online at www.relayforlife.org/grundycomo.
