Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge will be kicking off its “First Fridays at the Refuge” events on June 3. The event will have multiple family friendly activities such as archery, a prairie maze, a birders’ quest, canoes, a turtle tank and a hot dog supper. The observation tower will be open to tours along with the visitor’s center and gift shop. The event is free and open to the public.
Special guests for the June event include Heather Desorcie from the Missouri River Bird Observatory and Ralph Duren, who will present his “Calls of the Wild” demonstration.
The Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located one mile south of Sumner and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
