The Grundy R-5 Elementary Basketball Tournament began on Monday night with four games being played. In girls’ action, Laredo defeated Pleasant View 23-8 and Grundy R-5 topped Newtown-Harris 10-8. Boys’ match-ups saw Laredo defeat Pleasant View 31-10 and Grundy R-5 beat Newtown-Harris 31-5.
In girls action, Hannah Bowe and Haven Burress had eight and six points respectively for Laredo while Jenna Reeter led Pleasant View with six. Daya Allnutt and Emicka Shoemaker had six and four points respectively for Grundy R-5 and Brenna Veach scored four to pace Newtown.
Boys action saw Logan Foster score 19 points for Laredo while Bo Meeker added 12. Pleasant View, meanwhile, got five points from Mason Meservey. Grundy R-5 was paced by Corbin Axtell’s 11 points and Aiden Rains added six. No scores were reported for Newtown-Harris.
