DAWGS In Area Softball Tournament

Aug 3, 2015 | Headline News

The Trenton Special Olympics Team DAWGS (Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support), along with 200 Olympians from north Missouri, attended the Area Softball Tournament at Hyde Park in St. Joseph. It was hot and humid but the DAWGS fought hard to win their first two games to prevent a third playoff game, securing gold medals and the right to advance to the regional softball tournament in Kansas City on Aug. 28-29. The DAWGS are beginning their fourth year undefeated under the guidance of Coaches Jim Rash and Leonard Brill. Next up is the Area Flag Football Tournament on Aug. 15 in Cameron. Pictured are, from left, front row Kurtis Brewer; middle row, Miranda Dobbins, Sammi Gardner, Pierce Rash, Missy Rowlette, Kamey Shaw; and back row, Coach Jim Rash, Jessica Hazen, James Ross, Mary Brill, Coach Leonard Brill and Jeffrey Jackson.
