Jul 24, 2015 | Headline News

Among the activities being held at the North Central Missouri Fair this year is a fundraiser to help pay for the renovation of the bathrooms at the Rock Barn.
The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce and NCM Fair Board are teaming up to sponsor the “Team Super Farmer” competition on Wednesday night, July 29 at the grandstand. The event gets under way at 7 p.m. and will feature teams of two males and two females competing in a number of ag-related contests such as egg gathering, the hay bale toss and other events that promote individual tasks as well as teamwork.
There are two age groups in the competition, 11 to 14 and 115 to 18. There is no fee to enter the competition, however, registration is required between noon and 6 p.m. at the fair office. Competitors will be asked to have their parents sign a waiver to take part in the contest.
Each participant will receive a t-shirt provided by the North Central Missouri College Barton Farm Campus and the NCMC Foundation. An anonymous donor is providing the gloves.
After competing in their own age divisions, the winners of each group will then meet to determine the Super Farm Team of the NCM Fair. The overall winners will also be eligible to participate in the Missouri State Fair “Super Teens” Contest on Sunday, Aug. 16 at Sedalia. The local winners will also receive four concert tickets and state fair gate admissions, provided by PAR Broadcasting/KTTN. The grand prize at Sedalia are seats in the middle of the Pepsi grandstand to attend the concert by the band, “The Fray,” with opening act Andy Grammer on Saturday night, Aug. 22.
Gaylen Potter of Chillicothe is coordinating the events and has been in charge of similar competitions at the Missouri and Iowa State fairs. He will also serve as emcee for the evening.
Admission to the contest at the grandstand is $5 for persons age 6 years and older. Children five and under will be admitted free. Proceeds will be donated to the restroom improvement project.
