A Gilman City man was killed in an accident around noon on Wednesday at Crowder State Park. Michael Hayden, 31, was the driver of a concrete truck that was northbound on Highway 128 and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went into a skid, going off the right side of the roadway and overturning, coming to rest on its top in Crowder Park Lake. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Hayden was pronounced dead at the scene by Grundy County Coroner Dewayne Slater. Law enforcement officials said that the concrete truck had been transporting concrete to the park for a shelterhouse project. The accident was investigated by Trooper J.C. Daly and Crash Team One member Sgt. J.M. Toal, assisted by Sgt. Doug Little, Cpl. J.A. Pithan, Trooper J.C. Acree, CVO A.W. Urban, CVO S.R. Dye, Missouri State Park Rangers, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, the Trenton Police Department and the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District.
