The week of activities commemorating the 70th Trenton High School Homecoming will be held Sept. 22-26.
Students, faculty and personnel at all schools are encouraged to show their spirit by participating in the Spirit Week Activities.
The THS Student Council, which sponsors the week of activities, feels that school spirit began as early as Rissler for them, so they are encouraging all of the students and faculty at all of the schools to actively participate in carrying on in the spirit of homecoming.
Many area businesses have agreed to allow student council members to paint their windows to show support for the Trenton Bulldogs.
Spirit Week will be preceeded by the second annual Kaleidoscope Run on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Eastside Park. Registration for the Run is at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K run begins at 8 a.m. The Kaleidoscope Run is coordinated by the THS Student Council, FBLA, FCCLA, FTA, and Spanish Club. All proceeds benefit a local family in need.
Each day of Spirit week will be designated with a certain theme. Monday will be Hippy Day, Tuesday will be Pirate/Robot Day. Wednesday is Celebrity Day. Thursday is Punk Rock and Friday is Blackout Day.
As part of the homecoming activities, the student council and THS Mascots will be serving ice cream sundaes on Wednesday for all students who are dressed to show school spirit. During each lunch shift, prizes will be given to the student with the most spirit. Homeroom classes will also be allowed to decorate their doors. A pizza party will be awarded to the homeroom that wins.
The traditional pep rally will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at C.F. Russell Stadium. The guest speaker will be Dave Bain. The student council has also chosen Graham McVay as an “Unsung Hero” of the district (a member of the school staff who does so much for each without being recognized). Graham has been employed by the district for 26 years. He is a graduate of THS and attended Missouri Western State University. Graham says his favorite thing about Trenton is that the people are friendly.
Graham will be recognized the evening of the pep rally, along with the introduction of all fall sports teams, coaches and cheerleaders. This will be followed by coronation of the homecoming royalty and a bonfire.
Candidates for homecoming queen are seniors Mallory Hooyman, Maggie McNabb and Sheridan Jamvold. King candidates are candidates Gavin Griffin, Nick Gass and Jeramiah Chipps. Junior attendants are Ally Ockenfels and Tucker Franklin. Sophomore attendants are Lyric Nolan and Ellis Gilham. Freshmen attendants are Cassidy Trump and Lathan Croy.
The prince and princess of homecoming are Emma Welch and Julian Hawkins.
