The Grundy R-5 Junior High School basketball teams kicked off their 2010 seasons on Tuesday night as they played host to Pleasant View R-6 in Galt. Grundy took both contests, winning the girls game, 27-21, and the boys game, 42-9.

In girls action, Grundy held off a late rally by the Lady Blue Jays, escaping with a six-point win. Kylie Littleton and Alysa Floyd each scored 10 points to pace the Lady Panthers in the win. Maggie McNabb led Pleasant View with a game-high 13 points.
The boys game saw Grundy jump out to a 22-4 first quarter lead and never look back. Anthony Shoemaker scored a game-high 14 points to pace the Panthers, who also got eight points from Alex Webb and six points from Mason Radcliff.
With the wins, both Grundy teams established 1-0 records while both Pleasant View squads fell to 0-1.
Next up for the Panthers and Lady Panthers is a trip north to face Mercer on Monday.
Pleasant View, meanwhile, will face Newtown-Harris at home on Monday.
Both doubleheaders begin at 6 p.m.
