The Laredo Board of Aldermen met on Monday night, approving an ordinance concerning disposal of trash and unlicensed vehicles.
Laredo Aldermen Hold Meeting
According to City Clerk Amy Bowe, the board approved an ordinance setting requirements for getting rid of trash and unlicensed vehicles. A 30-day written notice will be given to offenders and if the trash or vehicle is not disposed of, then it will be done by the city and the cost will be assessed to the owner, either by adding the cost to their water bill or by sending them a separate bill. Mrs. Bowe said that at the board’s discretion, bills can be paid over a period of time if the cost is more than what can be paid at one time.
Renovations for city hall were approved, including painting and carpeting. Mayor Rebecca Burns will be making Christmas flags to be hung up in town during the holidays. Board member Robert Kelley has resigned and the board is seeking persons who might be interested in filling the position until the April election, at which time Kelley’s term expires.
At the next meeting, the board will be discussing an ordinance concerning the licensing of dog kennels within the city limits. The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
