Funeral services for Scott Harkins will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.

A family visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at the mortuary.

Mr. Harkins, a 38-year-old resident of 407 E. 11th St. in Trenton, died at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at the North Kansas City Hospital, where he had been a patient for a few hours.

Mr. Harkins was born on June 17, 1966 in Trenton, the son of Rex and Jane Fouts Harkins. He was raised in Trenton and graduated in 1984 from Trenton High School. After graduation he moved to Mesa, AZ, where he was employed in the construction business for eight years. He was married to Bethany McGarrity. He moved back to Trenton with his family, residing there for three years before returning to Mesa. He had moved back to Trenton in 2002 to make his home.

Mr. Harkins is survived by two sons, Nathan Reid and Brandon Paul Harkins, both of Mesa; his father, Rex Harkins of Trenton; a sister, Debra Hudson of Trenton; and a brother, Kenneth Harkins of Trenton.

He was preceded in death by his mother his paternal grandparents, Otto Reid Harkins and Rohema Harkins; and his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Eva Fouts.
