Harry Dale Whitney, an 81-year-old Trenton resident, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Wright Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Resthaven Mortuary, located north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
A visitation is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Mr. Whitney was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Hickory, the son of Joseph GiBeuat and Tressie Bernice Ritcherson Whitney. He was a lifelong Grundy County farmer and dairyman. In his younger years, he played for the American Legion and Ban Johnson baseball teams, traveling and playing semi-pro teams.
He was a member of the Zion Baptist Church.
Mr. Whitney is survived by his wife, Helen Whitney of Trenton; a son, Derald Whitney and his wife, Laura, of Trenton; two daughters, Virginia Frey and her husband, John of Grandview, and Christine Stover and her husband, David of Utica; a sister, Flossie Tate of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Maxine Whitney of Trenton; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Grundy County Ambulance Department, Trenton FFA or to the church of the donor?s choice.
