Velma Fern Hinnen, a 79-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died at Livingston Manor in Chillicothe on Sunday, May 11, 2003.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
A family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the funeral home. Friends may call after 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hinnen was born on Nov. 22, 1923 in Grundy County, the daughter of Walter and Lottie Ishmael Searcy. She was married on July 7, 1945 at Chillicothe to Fred Marvin Hinnen, who survives of the home.
She was a member of the Eversonville Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, John H. Hinnen and wife, Marie, of Chillicothe; one daughter, Charlotte Mammen and her husband, Jack, of Chillicothe; six sisters, Marie Hess of Kirksville, Louise Renfrow of Trenton, Kathleen Gibson of Trenton, Dorothy Berry of Topeka, KS, Norma Hobbs of Trenton and Betty Murphy of Chillicothe; four brothers, Donald Searcy of Trenton, Nova Searcy of Nevada, IA, Jimmy Searcy of Princeton and Billy Searcy of Laredo; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers and a daughter, Carol Warren, who died on Jan. 10, 1993.
