There are 13 area youngsters competing for the title of Little Miss and Mister Trenton, with the winners to be announced during the Missouri Day Festival.
Nine girls and four boys have entered the penny-a-vote contest, sponsored by the Miss Trenton Area Scholarship Pageant Board of Directors. The winners of the contest will be named during the opening ceremonies of the 15th Annual Missouri Day Festival, which will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 at the First Baptist Church.
Each contestant will place a can at an area business, where supporters may contribute to the contest. Proceeds will be used for scholarships for the Miss Trenton Pageant.
The 1999 Little Miss and Mister will participate in the Missouri Day Parade, as well as representing the Miss Trenton Pageant at other area events.
Contestants for Little Miss and the location of their cans include: Codi Winsor, daughter of Billie Jo and Shannon Bardwell, McDonald’s; October Lantz, daughter of Kerri Brenner and John Lantz, Hy-Vee; Monica Weaver, daughter of Michael Weaver and Genee Little, Royal Inn; Sarah Shuler, daughter of Danny and Lori Shuler, Hy-Vee; Melinda Wilson, daughter of Mark Wilson and Gayla Almond, Main Stop; Katarina Fincher, daughter of Kenneth and Nichole Fincher, Casey’s on Oklahoma Avenue; Tiffany Sims, daughter of Mike and Karen Sims, Hy-Vee; Briana Smith, daughter of Heather and Joseph Smith, Farmers State Bank; and Shelbi Stimpson, daughter of Debbie and Joe Stimpson, Hy-Vee.
Contestants for Little Mister and the location of their cans are Nicholas Winsor, son of Billie Jo and Shannon Bardwell, Kum & Go; Ryan Eastwood, son of Jim and Janet Eastwood, Hy-Vee; Aaron Maberry, son of Robin and Brandi Maberry, Hy-Vee; and Riley Maberry, son of Robin and Brandi Maberry, Hy-Vee.
Voting will take place until Oct. 11.
