Enrollments Up In Three Area Districts

The last of the area school districts began classes on Wednesday, with the Pleasant View R-6, Laredo R-7 and Princeton R-5 school districts all showing increases in student enrollment over the first day last year.

Newtown-Harris Students Begin Class

Classes began today in the Newtown-Harris School District with 84 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12, down one student from last year’s first-day enrollment of 85.
There are 48 students in the elementary, grades kindergarten through six, with 36 enrollment in the junior-senior high school. The largest class is the fifth grade, which has 11 students and the first grade and seventh grade tie for the smallest with four.

Pleasant View R-6 Eighth Grade Graduation

The Pleasant View R-6 School will hold its eighth grade graduation ceremony on Monday, May 9
The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium with a reception to follow. Those graduating include Erin Grace Allen, Maria Horton, Sarah Keller and Logan Stanton.

PTO Family Science Night

The Rissler Elementary School PTO will be sponsoring an Earth Day-themed Family Science Night on Friday.
The free event will be held at the school from 4 to 6 p.m. The Title Department will also be available to answer any questions and to give some tips about keeping students reading throughout the summer.

Grundy R-5 Preschool/Kindergarten Screening

The Grundy R-5 School District will conduct its preschool age-kindergarten screenings and kindergarten enrollment on Friday, April 1.
The screenings and enrollment will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. at the Galt Christian Church. Screenings will be conducted for children ages three to five. 2015 THS Homecoming Candidates Announced

R-T Photo/Ronda Lickteig The 2015 Trenton High School Homecoming candidates have been announced, with royalty to be crowned at a pep rally scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at C.F. Russell Stadium. Attendants include, from left, freshmen Laura Carlson and Jaden Whitney, sophomores Anna Shackelford and Colton Colston, and juniors Tessa Schlatter and Austin Burkeybile, while candidates include seniors Tomi Delp and Jonathan Lamp and Maddie Barone and Jose Barron.
