Grundy R-5 First Quarter 2015-2016 Honor Roll

2015 THS Homecoming Candidates Announced

R-T Photo/Ronda Lickteig The 2015 Trenton High School Homecoming candidates have been announced, with royalty to be crowned at a pep rally scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at C.F. Russell Stadium. Attendants include, from left, freshmen Laura Carlson and Jaden Whitney, sophomores Anna Shackelford and Colton Colston, and juniors Tessa Schlatter and Austin Burkeybile, while candidates include seniors Tomi Delp and Jonathan Lamp and Maddie Barone and Jose Barron. Not pictured are senior candidates Abigail Miller and Cree Mullenix. Crownbearers will be Caleb Dixon and Lynnzi McCullough. The traditional bonfire will follow the pep rally/coronation. A parade is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, followed by the football game against South Harrison at 7 p.m. and a dance that night from 9 to 11:30  in the THS gym.

Enrollments Mixed Among Area Districts

Classes began today in the Trenton R-9, Pleasant View R-6, Laredo R-7, Grundy R-5, Tri-County R-7, Spickard R-2, Newtown-Harris and Princeton R-5 school districts. Enrollment in most districts was very similar to the numbers posted on the first day of the 2014-15 school year.

Enrollment in the Trenton R-9 School District was 1,114 students in grades kindergarten through 12, up one student from the first day last year.

R-5 Board Hires Principal

The Grundy R-5 Board of Education has announced the employment of an elementary principal for the 2015-2016 school year.
According to information provided by Superintendent Rob Deaver, the board has hired Dr. Anne Billington of Moberly for the position. She replaces Kristi Weldon, who has accepted a position in the Ridgeway School District.

FFA Teams Headed To State

Trenton FFA judging teams competed in five Career Development Education categories during the second day of the Northwest CDE Contest in Maryville on Wednesday and, as a result, six teams have qualified for state competition.
Trenton earned a first- and second-place finish in judging competition, with the ag sales team taking top honors in the district. Adam Kirby, Rebecca Tate and Caitlin McNabb were the third-, fourth- and fifth-high individual

R-6 Science Fair

The Pleasant View R-6 Science Department will hold its annual science fair on Thursday, Feb. 19.
The fair is open to the public for viewing and will be held in the school cafeteria. Viewing will begin at 3:20 p.m. and run through 6 p.m.
