R-5 Board Hires Principal

The Grundy R-5 Board of Education has announced the employment of an elementary principal for the 2015-2016 school year.
According to information provided by Superintendent Rob Deaver, the board has hired Dr. Anne Billington of Moberly for the position. She replaces Kristi Weldon, who has accepted a position in the Ridgeway School District.

FFA Teams Headed To State

Trenton FFA judging teams competed in five Career Development Education categories during the second day of the Northwest CDE Contest in Maryville on Wednesday and, as a result, six teams have qualified for state competition.
Trenton earned a first- and second-place finish in judging competition, with the ag sales team taking top honors in the district. Adam Kirby, Rebecca Tate and Caitlin McNabb were the third-, fourth- and fifth-high individual

R-6 Science Fair

The Pleasant View R-6 Science Department will hold its annual science fair on Thursday, Feb. 19.
The fair is open to the public for viewing and will be held in the school cafeteria. Viewing will begin at 3:20 p.m. and run through 6 p.m.

R-9 Early Out On Friday

Classes in the Trenton R-9 School District will be dismissed early on Friday to allow for a professional development activity for teachers.
Classes at Rissler Elementary School will dismiss at 12:50 p.m., while classes at Trenton Middle School/Trenton High School will be dismissed at 1:07 p.m. There are no classes scheduled on Monday, Feb. 16 due to the President’s Day holiday.

The first quarter honor roll has been announced at the Grundy R-5 School at Galt.

Tri-County Enrollment Is Up

Enrollment at the Tri-County R-7 School District is 174 students in grades kindergarten through 12, with an additional 21 students in preschool. Classes began in the district on Wednesday.
That number is an increase of 26 students over the number reported to the Republican-Times on the first day last year. Three classes – the second grade, fifth grade and eighth grade- lead the enrollment with 18 students, while the smallest

Enrollment Trends Mixed In Area Schools

Summer vacation ended this morning for any area students who remained on break, with classes beginning in the Trenton R-9, Pleasant View R-6, Laredo R-7, Spickard R-2, Princeton R-5, Newtown-Harris and Tri-County R-7 school districts.
