Jon F. Ashford, 35, St. Joseph, pleaded guilty to second degree burglary and was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections, with execution of the sentence suspended. He was placed on probation for five years and is to pay $200 to the Grundy County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund plus $3,593.80 restitution.

County Prosecutor To Utilize Grand Jury

Some Grundy County residents have recently received a notice that they’ve been called to jury duty, but not the regular run-of-the-mill jury duty where jurors are called up on to decide guilt or innocence. These jurors have been summoned to be considered for service on a grand jury.

Alexander J. Curtis, 20, Trenton waived formal arraignment and had his case bound over to the Circuit Division on a charge of possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana, a class C felony. His case was certified to the Circuit Division on a charge of first degree trespassing. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 11.

Brandon W. Eads, 34, Trenton, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of operating a vehicle with defective brakes and was fined $200 and $68.50 costs.
Doris Leach, 39, Jamesport, pleaded guilty to speeding and was fined $76.50 and $68.50 costs. She also pleaded guilty to two counts of not wearing a seat belt and was fined $10 on each count.
