Sesquicentennial Committee Donates To Projects

The Sesquicentennial Planning Committee met for the final time on Tuesday to distribute the balance of its account among several community projects.

According to Sesquicentennial Committee Chairman Phil Schlarb, the current balance is $61,812.38, however, this number will change slightly as the final receipts for history books and history DVD’s are posted and minor final expenses are paid. Welcome To Trenton DVD Available

The “Welcome Home to Trenton” three-disc DVD sets have arrived and can now be picked up at the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce office by those individuals who have pre-ordered them.

A limited quantity of additional DVDs are available for sale at a price of $50. The work was created by MasterVideo, including videographers Buddy Hannaford, Karla Hannaford and Barb Spencer, and includes footage from the early days of Trenton,

Some History Books Still Available

A few sets of the Grundy County History Book remain available for purchase.

Books cost $134.66 (including tax) for a two-volume set. There are also copies of the historical map of Trenton available in both folded and unfolded forms. They can be purchased for $10 each.

Sesquicentennial DVD Orders

The special limited edition three-disc DVD from Trenton’s Sesquicentennial,“Welcome Home To Trenton,” will soon be released.

Those who have already placed orders at the Trenton Chamber of Commerce will be notified once the finished product is available for pick up. The 150th commemorative DVD package is being readied to send to the copy house for duplication. Persons who have not placed an order can do so now. Delivery is expected

History Books To Be Distributed Over Weekend

The new Grundy County history book, “Grundy County and Its People,” will be distributed this weekend to those who have ordered books.

The books will be distributed at the First Baptist Church Activity Center fro 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Sept 2. Additional dates for pick-up will be announced later.

History Book Delivery Delayed

The new Grundy County history book, “Grundy County and Its People,” will not be available from the publisher as soon as previously announced.

According to the latest word from Walsworth Publishing, the two-volume book is expected to be finished near the end of August.
As soon as more specific information is available, the History Book Committee will provide details on the dates and times for picking up books.

Chamber Will Market DVD Of 150th Events

The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce will be marketing DVD movies that are being produced by MasterVideo owners Buddy and Karla Hannaford of the individual events at the city’s 150th celebration.

Sesquicentennial Officials Happy With Celebration

Good crowds were in attendance at events held over the July 4th holiday, which also brought to an end the Trenton Sesquicenten-nial.

Beginning with concerts by the Brass Ensemble on Wednesday afternoon and a variety show featuring local talent on Wednesday night, residents and visitors alike took part in the many activities held during the final two days of the 150th celebration.
