Storm Hits Trenton, Grundy County

Heavy winds during a storm that moved through Trenton on Monday night knocked down several limbs and even uprooted a few trees, including this one on Linn Street. There was also damage to several buildings throughout the area and electric crews from Trenton Municipal Utilities, KCP&L and Grundy Electric Cooperative were kept busy trying to restore power to their customers.

R-T Photo/Diane Lowrey Trenton residents woke up this morning to find a lot of tree limbs down and, in some cases, a lot of damage following a storm that traveled through the area on Monday night. According to the Trenton Police Department, the area near the Riverside Country Club was among the hardest hit, with some roads blocked due to limbs being blown down by the high winds. Among the damage reported was this SUV located at the intersection of Third and Ridgeway streets. The Grundy County Local Emergency Management team was busy this morning assessing damage in the area.
