DAWGS Win At State Competition

Submitted Photo The Trenton DAWGS (Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support) traveled to Ft. Leonard Wood to attend the Special Olympics State Indoor Games on March 18-20 and participate in bowling and basketball. There were over 300 soldiers lined up at the opening ceremonies on Friday night, shouting welcomes to the athletes as they entered the building. Mary Brill was selected by Special Olympics to give the Athlete’s Oath at the opening ceremony. All of the athletes brought home plenty of medals. They include, from left, front row, Kamey Shaw, Sammi Gardner, Hannah Bruse,; back row, Dominick Elliott, James Ross, Mary Brill, Pierce Rash, Coach Jamie Buzzard, Jessica Hazen, Kurtis Brewer, Oletha Stark and Jeffrey Jackson. Other coaches attending were Jim and Judy Rash, Jeff and Georgia Jackson and Leonard Brill.
