DAWGS Win Basketball Medals

Submitted Photo The DAWGS (Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support) traveled to Maryville and the campus of Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday, Jan. 30 for the Special Olympics North Area Basketball Tournament. Over 40 teams participated and the two Trenton teams, 3 DAWG Nite and The Knockout DAWGS, both received gold medals for their efforts. Individual skills players received two gold medals and one bronze medal. The regional tournament will be held in Blue Springs on Feb. 13. Participants included, from left, front row, Coach Judy Rash, Hannah Bruse, James Ross; middle row, Oletha Stark, Sammi Gardner, Pierce Rash; back row, Coach Georgia Jackson, Kurtis Brewer, Jeffrey Jackson, Sierra Bruse, Coach Jamie Buzzard, Coach Leonard Brill, Mary Brill, Kamey Shaw, Jessica Hazen, Assistant Coach Rachelle Tyler, and Coach Jim Rash. Not pictured is Dominick Elliott. The team proudly displayed their new basketball uniforms during the tournament.
