THS Students Take Part In Trapshooting

Submitted Photo On Friday Sept. 4, Scott Roy (left) reviewed gun safety and how to be safe with Trenton High School conservation class students at the Trenton Trap and Skeet range. Trapshooting took place from Sept. 8-11. Roy, Dick Thompson (right), Dyle Wilson, Jeff Berti and Adam Brandsgaard were there to help the students. On the first day at the range, Roy reminded the group of gun safety and Thompson explained how to shoot trap. The students were then divided into two groups, experienced and inexperienced. Roy and Brandsgaard watched the experienced group while Thompson helped the inexperienced. The group practiced on the second day and showed improvement. On the third day, the experienced group used an automated microphone to throw the clay pigeons out of the traphouse instead of having someone listen and push the button. On the final day, the experienced shooters shot skeet. It was a great experience but harder than shooting trap. The students all had a great time out there. It was a fun learning experience.
