North Central Missouri Business Facilitation Group Meets At Trenton

Photo Courtesy of North Central Missouri College The North Central Missouri Business Facilitation group met on Thursday, Sept. 9  on the Barton Campus of NCMC in Trenton, Missouri. During the meeting, several donations to the group were announced including $5,000 from the Wallace Foundation and $1,000 from another business, both from Caldwell County. The board also discussed a proposed budget for 2016 which was approved by the board. Several potential funding grants were discussed, one being the “Challenge Grant.” Dr. Neil Nuttall discussed a recent $25,000 state grant NCMBF received. The grant, which is through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act with the Division of Workforce Development, will be used for startup and implementation through training, consultation and mentoring. Lurinda Gilliland and Duane Kohlstaedt presented an “ask packet” that will have information included such as a uniform speaking page, facts page, mock-ups of specific projects, giving levels, benefits, “ask” form and information such as mission, goals, budget and board of directors. Ralph Boots reported on hiring a facilitator. The job would be considered a contracted laborer, not an employee. The contract is still under review. Advertising for the position will begin Oct. 1 with a hire in place before the first training session on Jan. 26-28. Dr. Nuttall presented a timetable for hire and the board approved. Additional members are needed in Harrison and Daviess counties to have representation of two members per county. The board also discussed compiling a list of contacts, potential resource board members and donors to receive a public newsletter on NCMBF progress. The next group board meeting will be at noon on Oct. 14 at the Hope Royalle Building in Bethany.
