FFDD Attend Balloon Derby

Submitted Photo Families and Friends of the Developmentally Disabled sponsored an educational/vocational trip to Laclede on Sept. 5 to attend the 39th annual Great Pershing Balloon Derby. Seventeen participants and volunteers attended the derby as well as visited the General John J. Pershing Boyhood Home, State Historic Site and Museum. Gen. John J. Pershing was well known by the name “Black Jack,” which interested everyone. At the derby they learned how balloons take flight and are guided after they ascend.
