The Tragic Life of Cpl. Lewis F. Findley

Cpl. Lewis F. Findley died on Oct. 24, 1944, when he was aboard a Japanese ship with 1,775 prisoners of war that sailed from Manila, Philippine Islands on Oct. 11, 1944.
After 14 days, headed to the Japanese homeland, the vessel was sunk by submarine action in the South China Sea over 200 miles from the Chinese coast, which was the nearest land.
