FFA Members Attend Academy

Three members of the Trenton FFA attended the Missouri State FFA HYMAX (Helping Youth Maximize Their Agricultural Experience) Academy on June 20-22 at Camp Rising Sun at the Lake of the Ozarks. Conner Lovell, Katerina Black and Mariah Fox (from left) were among those taking part in the event, which is sponsored by the Missouri FFA Leadership Fund is in honor of Dr. Terry Heiman, who served as the Missouri’s State FFA Advisor for 28 years and was a former agriculture instructor at Trenton Junior College. The academy focuses on leadership, communication, and agricultural experience culminating in creating strong advocates for Missouri agriculture. The HYMAX Academy is comprised of the TOP 100 entering sophomore high school students who are members of FFA across Missouri. The high school students are mentored by Small Group Leaders who are college students, many who are former state FFA officers. Tours are provided for students to experience non-traditional agriculture and Agricultural Education program. In addition, students network with industry leaders, agricultural education teachers, current state officers, and peers to build lasting relationships.
