Native Serves Country, Is POW In WWII

Submitted Photo  Hickory native Jason Brown was held as a prisoner of war in the Philippines during World War II. He and other POWs survived on  rice, occasionally topped with seaweed, dry corn or sweet  potato tops, augmented by stray monkeys, snakes and other small animals, including rats.
