Ideal weather conditions benefitted the Wright Run 5K/10K as 175 runners and walkers wearing bright sky blue shirts participated in the second annual event on Saturday. The fundraising race began at the old WMH Medical Office Building and included Riverside Country Club as a part of the route. The theme of the event was health care awareness and raised $8,000, which benefits the walking trail and memorial garden project. “This year’s support from the participants and sponsors was truly special, so having a beautiful morning was icing on the cake for this event,” said WMH Foundation Board Member and Wright Run Chair Cara McClellan. “It’s so nice to see people bring their family and friends to run and walk, benefitting not only their personal health but our local hospital foundation as well.” Finishing medals were awarded to each participant and trophies were presented to the top three overall male and female 5K finishers, the top male and female in the 10K race, and the top two teams. Winners in the male 5K were Derek McClure of Bethany, first, 20:52; Richard Witten of Trenton, second, 23:19.72; and Zach Tabbert of Trenton, third, 24.17.26. Women’s 5K winners were Ayron Osborn of Trenton, first, 26:02.06; Katherine Hoffman of Trenton, second, 26:27.80; and Gayle Hall of Laredo, third, 28:25.46. The 10K winners were Roberto Garcia of Trenton, 40:56.62, men’s division; and Jenna Gibson of Trenton, 58:09.82, women’s division. In the Team of Four, Modine Manufacturing placed first in the 5K with a time of 106:00.18. Team members were Ben Holmes, Miles Moore, Darren Schlatter and Mitchell Bailey. Second went to North Central Missouri College with a time of 124:32.28. Team members were Jewell Harris, Missie Cotton, Paul Bruinsma and Brittaney Oxford. The 10-kilometer sponsors include Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, Barnes-Baker Automotive Group and Trenton Hy-Vee Food Store.
