“We knew going into tonight that it was going to be a tough match against Chillicothe,” Trenton Head Coach Abby Gott said. “Although the team score doesn’t reflect it, the girls really played well. They were consistent with their shots and smart with their ball placement. They battled until the very end.”
The loss dropped the Trenton varsity to 0-2 on the season.
Despite the varsity’s struggles, the Trenton JV blasted Chillicothe’s junior varsity squad, 6-0. Ashley Allen and Tristan Dugan scored a 7-6 win with a 7-5 tiebreaker, Hannah Robinson and Megan Ellis won 6-2, Jessica Harrison and Kellie Smith picked up a 6-2 win as well, Michelle Stewart and Hannah Farmer won 6-3, Makaylah Gordon and Ellis won 6-3 and Harrison and Smith scored a 6-0 win.
“The girls had a great night,” Assistant Coach Lauren Boswell said of the JV win. “They played hard, were consistent with their ground strokes and were strong at the net.”
Both Trenton squads return to the court today, playing host to Savannah at the THS tennis courts at 4 o’clock.
