Two Incumbents Defeated In Election

Two incumbents were winners while two lost in Tuesday’s Grundy County Primary Election.

Rodney Herring and Gene Wyant won the Republican nomination for their respective offices of sheriff and first district county commissioner. Herring, who won all 10 of the county precincts along with the absentee count, will face Democrat Michael Smith in the general election in November. He received 1,590 votes while Spencer had 1,060 votes.
