Man Arrested on Check Charges

A Marceline man remains in the Grundy County Jail after being arrested for passing bad checks on a non-existent account.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, 36-year-old John Birmingham is facing six counts of passing bad checks on a non-existent account at U.S. Bank. The checks written include the following: on June 6 to Hy-Vee for $82.41; on June 21 to Trenton Main Stop for $48.11; on July 1
